  • What do you look forward to most on cheat meal / day?: A pizza
  • Why do you work in the fitness industry?:
    • Being able to share my love of exercise (especially burpees!) with other ladies as a job is incredible. I have always been a confident exerciser and see myself as being lucky in this respect. Seeing other ladies grow in confidence and achieving their fitness goals is really rewarding.
  • If you weren’t a trainer you would....
    • I would be writing and working with social media, for which I have a natural affinity. My previous work history has revolved around the promotion of active, sustainable travel (walking and cycling).
  • Biggest challenge to achieving health and fitness goals?:
    • I think if you have young children, finding the time and energy to prioritise your fitness goals is difficult. This can be frustrating at a time when you body has undergone so many changes during and post-pregnancy, and it may well be a time in your life when you are most unhappy with your body. Fitter Body Bootcamp works for ladies who are pressed for time, as the sessions provide a complete workout in just 45 minutes and a commitment to just 3 sessions a week will make big changes to fitness levels.
  • Which 1 thing is most important when achieving health and fitness goals?:
    • Patience is so important because lasting changes do not happen overnight. Lifestyle changes need to be sustainable in the long-term for them to become a permanent part of your life. Unrealistic goals lead to under-achievement and can result in demotivation. Patience allows you to celebrate all of your achievements (no matter how small); increase your targets at an appropriate rate; and enables you to stop comparing your fitness journey to those of others.
  • Favourite boy band?
    • I have never really been a boyband kind of girl. I’m more likely to be listening to Avril Lavigne and Britney Spears in my car, or nursery rhymes if my daughter is in the car too! But when it comes to running, I find high-tempo and emotive music really helps motivate me, especially when pounding out some interval sprints.
  • Favourite drink? Alcoholic:
    • Twinings Gingerbread green tea. It smells and actually tastes like gingerbread men. I very rarely drink alcohol, mainly because hangovers and a young child do not mix! But also because I have never really developed a taste for wine.
  • Favourite meal?
    • My husband makes amazing Quorn meatballs, which we have with wholemeal spaghetti. Being a vegetarian does make ensuring I have enough protein a little more tricky and I’m not sure what I would do without all of the various Quorn products!
  • Favourite country you’ve visited? Thailand.
    • I have very fond memories of visiting all over France with my parents and sister every year during the summer holidays. However, having my daughter has given my holidays a whole new perspective – now I’m the Mum who has to remember the towels, sun cream and in-car entertainment!

JULIE (If I Can Do It, You Can Do It Trainer Girl)

  • What do you look forward to most on cheat meal / day?: I don’t generally have a cheat meal but I do love a pudding every now and then
  • Why do you work in the fitness industry?:
    • I’ve been on the journey and finding Fitterbody Ladies turned my life around in just 12 months.
It gave me the confidence to give anything a try and more importantly, I learned to love myself again.
So when I was given the opportunity to do the same for others, I jumped at the chance.
  • If you weren’t a trainer you would....
    • Probably still be working for the FTS50 company…
      60 hours a week…
      travelling over 3,000 miles a month…
      with bad eating habits…
      not enough exercise…
      bad back…
      and really miserable.
  • Biggest challenge to achieving health and fitness goals?:
    • I went all in when I joined the programme and it was a complete mindset change from diet to healthy clean eating, and pushing myself every day in sessions rather than just plodding along as I had done in countless gyms and classes over the years.
Changing the words ‘I can’t’ to ‘I can’ help me to hit every milestone I set myself along the journey.
3 stone and 14% body fat reduction was never going to be an overnight or quick couple of weeks fix, so whilst I had this long term goal fixed, hitting short term achievements along the way helped my big challenge.
I’m not sure I will ever be the fittest person, I have to remember I’m 45 not 25 but I love to continually challenge myself to do new things, go faster or go heavier.
  • Which 1 thing is most important when achieving health and fitness goals?:
    • Having a big enough WHY and reminding yourself every day.
  • Favourite boy band?
    • I don’t do boy bands but I am known to boogie in the sessions along to Justin Bieber 🙂
  • Favourite drink? Alcoholic:
    • Every day – Gingerbread green tea 🙂
And vodka on a Saturday night when I’m not working the Sunday morning shift 🙂
  • Favourite meal?
    • Hard one – I love most foods and could give you a long list.  One of my favourites at the moment is Joe Wicks chicken pie and I cook it most weeks.
  • Favourite country you’ve visited?
I love Sicily, beautiful people and beautiful food, I don’t know why but the fish there taste out of this world!
