Sharing Our Ladies Success – 60 Second Interview With Charlee

Posted on by Ricky in goals Leave a comment

Hi Charlee                                                                                                                                                Charlee Before

Firstly, well done on your achievements so far at Fitterbody Bootcamp. A fantastic start to the new fitter you – you should be really proud of yourself.  I personally have loved watching you grow with confidence week on week and you getting fitter, faster and stronger. And last but no means least, your body shape changing dramatically!

Tell me something about yourself that our Ladies won’t know:

I have 3 children 12, 5 & 1.

I didn’t actually join fitter bodies to lose weight (although I needed to).

I have had a really rubbish year and was struggling to cope with the stress I was under.  My Doctor offered me some tablets for anxiety & stress.

It was my mum who suggested I should try exercise as a way to help me deal with things.

And in doing so, it’s completely changed my outlook – both mentally and physically.

You are looking amazing, tell us about your goals and achievements so far:

I have dropped from squeezing into 18-20 size clothes to a comfortable 12- 14 in bottoms and a 10-12 on top. Buying my first size 10 top this week felt amazing – I don’t even think I was a size 10 at school!!

What is it that you enjoy most about bootcamp?

I love the variation – I have never done two days the same.

I love being pushed to lift heavier and do things I didn’t ever think I could do.

And the ladies – I have met some really lovely people who have helped along the way.

How much better do you feel about yourself?                                                                                  Charlee Now

There’s no words to describe how good it feels to not feel like the frumpy fat friend anymore.

I feel more confident and happy in myself which then works its way in to all aspects of my life.

I have a lot more get up and go as well and have even had the family out on walks, bike rides and even running.

What’s next for you?

I really want to be able to run.

When I joined end of January I couldn’t even run for one minute on a treadmill without feeling sick.

I’ve now got up to 45 mins without stopping.

I want to crack 10k..

and then a half marathon…

and then a marathon.

The resistance training and cardio have really helped improve my muscle tone and stamina so fingers crossed I can get there!

If you could make one recommendation to someone considering joining Fitterbody Ladies, what would that be?

Do it – but take measurements and record your body fat.

My first 3 weeks the scales didn’t reflect my hard work and I was gutted.

Usually this is the point I give up a diet or exercise routine.

But by seeing my measurements come down and I lost 2.5% body fat…. that kept me going and got me to where I am now!

The scales aren’t the be all and end all!

Charlee is a beautiful lady inside & out, who I know will continue to grow in her fitness journey 😊

Look In The Mirror!

Posted on by Ricky in goals, Uncategorized Leave a comment

We have some amazing results and week in week out I see the smiles growing as the weight drops off.

But are you smiling?

No?

• Look in the mirror and ask yourself why?
• Are you being honest about your nutrition?
• Are you exercising?
• Are you doing something else when life gets in the way and you can’t make a class or session?
• Are you putting in 100% effort?

I know how hard the journey is and understand what you are going through. It was a 14 month journey for me but all the hard work has been made worthwhile as I have achieved my goals 🙂

If you need some help to get on track and start reaching some of your goals, please email me and we can get you booked in for a free trial session.

I would love 100’s of responses to this post.

I would love to see some of you at Bootcamp.

I would love to be able to post some more amazing success stories about you!

Make me happy 🙂

Shut Up And Take Some Responsibility!

Posted on by Ricky in goals, Uncategorized Leave a comment

As I stood there on the sad step, which I do very rarely, I knew that my nutrition has not been in line with my goals.

Now at this point it’s very easy for me to tell myself, moaning, that:

All the hard I do training wise is not working;

Or that I am eating well 80% of the time;

So what’s the problem?

But I need to take a reality check!

Stop my Moaning

And be honest with myself

And take some responsibility.

It is only me (or you) who can make any changes!

It is only me (or you) who can face the reality of what is happening.

Be honest with yourself

Because it’s only you that your cheating.

Have a fabulous day 🙂

Flawed

Flawed?

I’m on holiday and not working, but sitting by the pool today I read a really good book, Flawed by Cecelia Ahern, one of my favourite authors.

In the closing acknowledgements she says if there is one message I hope this book portrays, it’s this; none of us are perfect.

Let’s not pretend we are.

Let’s us not be afraid that we are not.

Let us not label others and pretend we are not the same.

Let us all know that to be human is to be flawed.

Now whilst Cecelia is not referring to how we  look, as I people watched round the pool all afternoon, I see ladies from many different European countries, of all ages, all different shapes and sizes, some mums, some grandparents, some in tiny bikinis, some in full swimsuits, some overly conscious, some not with a care…

But it did make me think, what is perfect?

Why is size 10 perfect? Or even size 8 or 6?

Why do we aspire to look like the images portrayed in magazines or on TV? That perfect size or perfect shape?

Looking around, it’s certainly not average, the opposite in fact.

What we need to learn ladies is to love ourselves for who and what we are. And the only aspiration we should have is to be better today than we was yesterday, better this week than last week.

To be fitter, faster, stronger.

Perfection is not paramount.

I’m happy to be flawed!

Just be you 🙂

What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

Posted on by Ricky in goals, Uncategorized Leave a comment

In our quest for greatness the road is often rough, but we must overcome our fear of the unknown and have absolute courage. Nothing in life that’s worth having comes easy. #LewisHamilton

We often share amazing stories with you of our Ladies fabulous long term successes. But these long-term goals are made up of many short-term objectives. We focus on these daily with the ladies, whether its lifting a heavier weight, running further, doing more reps or simply achieving a first like completing press-ups on toes – we always celebrate 🙂

This morning we had an epic upper body session where I had the total pleasure of high fiving every single one of the Ladies for achieving a first.

As I said quite a lot during the session, give it a go, what’s the worst that can happen?

So many smiling pink faces left today.

If you want to come to try something new and achieve something that will make you feel amazing, simply drop me an email and we can get you booked in for a trial session.

Have a great day 🙂

Some come to lose weight, some come to get fitter.

But they all have one thing in common, to be better.

What An Amazing Start To The New Year!

Posted on by Ricky in goals Leave a comment

Sorry I’ve not posted a blog for a couple weeks, it has been a mega busy start to the New Year, but so satisfying 🙂

We have new Ladies who have joined us for our New Year 6 Week Transformation Programme and they have got off to an amazing start with 206.7lbs down between them so far. They are really getting into the Fitterbody Bootcamp bug and have shared fabulous stories with the group. I also need to give a huge shout out to Claire who has worked tremendously hard, both in the kitchen and at sessions and lost an amazing 17lbs since starting on 3 Jan – WOW 🙂

It has been hard work for many who haven’t exercised for a while, but as I said to one Lady last week, the hardest part is walking through the door at your first session, you’ve done that, the second hardest thing is coming back in for the 2nd and 3rd sessions that first week when your body aches in places you didn’t know existed, and you’ve done that . I promise, it does get easier and you’ll ache a little less, that’s when you know it’s time for you to up the number of sessions and up your weights 🙂

And back to our members, after an amazing finish to the year with the 1 Stone Club of which we now have 22 Ladies on our celebration wall, we have kicked off fabulously well in the New Year with 2 further Ladies gaining their certificate so far.

As a group, Fitterbody Bootcamp’s total weight loss so far this year is an amazing 641.5lbs – WOW!

And away from weight loss, many members have been with us for several years now and whilst they don’t have weight loss goals, they do aim to be #fitterfasterstronger in 2017.

Chloe has set up and events calendar and we already have lots of Ladies who have signed up for Colour Run’s, Obstacle Courses, Wolf Runs and Half Marathons. They are all training hard towards their new goals and I look forward to sharing some stories with you later in the year.

Ricky shared and interesting fact last week, Gym memberships see a huge rise in January, you know, we’ve all done it, new year new you, but amazingly over 80% of those new members don’t make it beyond February. So whatever your goals and plans in 2017, stick with it, you are worth it!

Have a great day 🙂

Julie

Our Success Stories – 60 Second Interview With Kristina Warwick Smith

Posted on by Ricky in fitness, goals Leave a comment

Hi Kristina

Firstly well done on your achievements so far at Fitterbody Bootcamp:

kws-chart

Tell us something about yourself that our Ladies won’t know:

I’m one of those people who will just give anything a go, and over the past 10 years I’ve had a number of random hobbies – all with varying degrees of success: Rock climbing; Bollywood dancing, Classical singing lessons; Artistic roller dancer; and Tennis lessons – to name a few.

You look fantastic and we have enjoyed watching you change body shape week on week. Tell us about your goals and achievements so far:

I started at Fitter Body Bootcamp at the end of May this year as I just wanted to change my unhealthy lifestyle. I have lost over a stone so far and dropped a dress size which feels amazing but my ultimate goal is to be able to maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle. Before that, I still have a way to go but my biggest achievement is that I’m still working at it! I know I’m not perfect, and I’ve had a few weeks that have been a real struggle, especially with my diet but I’m still heading in the right direction.
It would be silly not to also mention that I recently completed my first 5 hour Bootcamp (thanks to Lavinia in my 6am sessions for the encouragement). I would never have had the motivation or energy to do anything like this before joining Bootcamp. I even managed a two and a half hour Yoga session the next day!

What is it that you enjoy most about Bootcamp?

For me, it’s the fantastic support network available for help with both fitness and diet. Whether it be in person, by email or Facebook, there really is no excuse to sit and suffer in silence, confusion or feel overwhelmed in any way. It’s the personal approach that makes the difference for me.
The other thing I most enjoy about Bootcamp is not only are sessions completely different from each other, but how many times we say on the way out “that was a great session”. I’m pretty sure I’ve said that after each of the 3 sessions I have done so far this week, even this morning when Julie had Anne and I doing chest presses with two 10kg dumbbells!!!

How much better do you feel about yourself?

I have so much more energy than I ever did before and overall I think I enjoy life more. It’s great to know that as well as being able to see the visible results of weight loss I know that the inside is getting a whole lot healthier too! I’m also pretty sure if I look closely enough (maybe squinting) I can see the start of some pretty epic guns in progress thanks to regular Friday arms sessions – did I mention the two 10kg dumbbells from this morning?

What’s next for you?

I’ve signed up till May next year so you’ve got to put up with me for a while yet.
I’m starting a new job in a months’ time, and usually changes to my normal routine would put me back into unhealthy lifestyle habits, however I know I have the confidence and ability to keep on track.
I’m going to continue to build on my success so far both with my diet and my early Bootcamp sessions (yay for the 6am ladies).
I’m hoping there will be another 5 hour Bootcamp soon as I’ll be all over that and maybe I’ll give running a go too. Who knows, either way I’m sure it will be a blast!

Top 5: 10 Minute Workouts

Posted on by Ricky in Articles, fat loss, fitness, goals, health Leave a comment

When you really come to think of it, I am sure most of us could spare 10 minutes in the morning or the evening to up our fitness game.

What can be difficult is knowing what exercises to do to maximise the time and still get a good workout in 10 minutes.

SO for those of you with that spare 10 minutes, here are my top 10 minute workouts.

WORKOUT 1

THE MOVES

A circuit of push-ups, body weight squats, bear crawls and shuttle runs (or mountain climbers if space is limited). With these moves you will be targeting major muscle groups across all areas of the body, meaning your body is working harder and doing more.

THE TIMING

Do each of the exercises for 1 minute with no rest. Have a minute break between circuits.

WHAT YOU’RE WORKING

The whole body – Upper, Lower and Core. It’s also great for aerobic fitness.

Perfect for when you only have a limited amount of time!

WORKOUT 2

THE MOVES

An explosive full body circuit including jumping squats and push-ups, burpees and dynamic planks. The key to the fat burning HIIT circuit is to make the movements as compound as possible, this means as big as you can, using as many muscle groups as possible.

THE TIMING

Depending on your goals combine 30-60 seconds on each exercise with minimal rest. Complete as many rounds as you can in the 10 minutes.

WORKOUT 3

THE MOVES

Burpees, Squat Jumps, Jumping Jacks, Rest, High Knees, Sprint on the spot and Skaters. These plyometric moves will strengthen glutes, quads, hamstrings, pecs and core – everything basically!!

THE TIMING

30 seconds of each with a 30 seconds rest, then repeat until the 10 minutes is up.

WHY?

HIIT is a fantastic tool for burning body fat whilst maintaining muscle mass and improves athletic performance.

Unlike most other techniques, with HIIT it is beneficial to keep the workouts short. They must be below 30 minutes long and actually if you’re clever about it 10 minutes is ideal.

WORKOUT 4

THE MOVES

Bear Crawls, Pushups  and Squats.

THE TIMING

Aim for as many reps as you can squeeze in a minute of each exercise, repeated 3 times, with 20 seconds rest after each set. The bear crawls are a dynamic movement that focus on your core, stability and injury prevention. Push-ups target the core, chest, triceps and shoulders. Meanwhile squats work your glutes, legs and you guessed it – core.

WHY?

These are all multi joint movements using full body tension to perform each repetition. The more joints used in an exercise, the more calories burnt and better results for any goal.

WORKOUT 5

THE MOVES

Spiderman pushups, Plank (elbows), Tricep dips

THE TIMING

Do these moves for 45 seconds each (15 sec rest in-between). Repeat until your 10 minute is over.

WHY?

Once again, the benefit of repeated interval training is getting the heart rate up and working the body as hard as you can in a short space of time.
