The Birth Of Fitter Body Bootcamp

Posted on by Ricky in Articles, goals, Video Comments Off on The Birth Of Fitter Body Bootcamp

I heard something on the radio today about the upcoming

Rio Olympics in August.
and was immediately taken back back to this time 4 years
ago in the build up to the London Olympics.
In April 2012 I was in the process of changing careers.
I was trying to leave behind a career(17 years ) in Financial Services
and desperately trying hard to find the time to get my
qualifications as a Personal Trainer.
As I approached y 36th birthday, those that were close to me
said that I was mad.
that I was having a ‘mid-life’ crisis.
What about the responsibility to my family.?
The big fat mortgage?
The cars on finance?
The credit cards?
The holidays?
I remember people saying that I would be leaving
a career behind that I was really experienced and
qualified in and starting at the bottom.
It just felt like the right thing to do.
In the August I had my first sessions – in a local park
with 5 ladies.
I’d officially swapped my shirt, tie and pinstripe for
a tracksuit
There was no turning back.
then the reality check of paying the mortgage at the
end of the month came and our outgoings were
massively more than what we now had coming in.
Paying the mortgage on a credit card is never
great but we had to do it.
When I sat down and did the number, the money
that was coming in wasn’t even enough to cover
our weekly shopping bill (family of 4) let alone
pay for anything else.
So as far as having fun, doing what I loved, following
my passion was concerned, it was all going to be short
lived unless something dramatic happened.
Were the naysayers all going to be proven right?
I kind of figured that I had already taken huge risks to
get this far, so if I was going to fail then I might as well
fail big.
Within a few months I had decided to take on as big a unit
as I could find and then I would try and fill it.
Sounded like a great plan.
However in the January I came down with a really bad stomach
condition. I was in hospital. I think it may have been linked to
the stress of the whole situation.
I’d lost weight – in the region of 10kg through it as well – and for a naturally
skinny guy I just looked really ill.
Alex, (my wife stepped in) and helped to manage things.
She helped to keep things ticking over until I was better.
Nothing had changed my commitment to see this through though.
By the April we had secured our unit – 2700 square feet in Northampton
(where we still are today)
There were not many ladies to move across (but I’m pleased to say
that some of them are still with us today!).
There were times that I seriously doubted what I was doing.
There were times when I just wanted to go back to that comfort zone
of financial services.
There have been plenty of sleepless nights worrying about how
much we had taken on.
here we are (nearly 4 years later) and I look at what this business
is becoming.
I look at the amazing transformations that have taken place
and the impact that we have had on so many local lives.
I look at the trainers that now work with us (3 of them are ex members!)
and the way that our sessions are delivered.
Every session is still different. – something that I insisted on from day 1.
We have sessions that run every day during the week from 6am
and they run up until 7:30pm.
We have 5 hour bootcamps that sell out every 8 weeks.
We continually invest huge amounts of time and money on
improving the experience.
We’re not a gym.
We actually want all of our members to attend every session.
We pro-actively help to educate all of our members regarding
nutrition so it becomes less about diet and more about lifestyle
We offer to track every single members weight and body fat %
and then monitor the progress (again, something that we’ve had
from day 1 in that park!!)
Most of all we aim to make every single session FUN. (check it out below)
Are we perfect? – far from it! We’re still a small family run business
and as much as we try our best to be perfect, we’re still human and
often will make mistakes.
With now over 250 active members though we know that we get it right
more often than not.
The most rewarding part of what we do is seeing a transformation
take place before our eyes.
Women that come in that are unfit, overweight, not confident and with low self esteem
are completely transformed within 6-8 weeks.
I never ever had this kind of ‘job satisfaction’ in Financial Services – not even
Which is why we have to keep moving forward.
Who knows how things will look by the time the next Olympics comes around!!

Really FUN Personal Training In Northampton

Posted on by Ricky in Video Comments Off on Really FUN Personal Training In Northampton

The benefits of personal training are huge.

More accountability..

Closely monitored progression.

Specific nutritional guidance

= all of this adds up to great results.

It’s normally reserved for those with a high disposable income.

Let’s face it, even hiring a trainer in a budget gym is going to cost over £300 per month for 3 sessions per week! – £500 per month with most gyms though.

Which is why we offer a semi private training option.

All of the above benefits are included with semi private plus there’s more flexibility around session times – the only difference is that training is performed in small groups – limited to no more than 8 in a session.

Heart rate monitors are still included that monitor calories torched, effort levels and heart rate throughout the session – can be seen for each member on our large plasma TV – check out the video below for a short demo.

The best thing about all of this though is that it’s available for a much more affordable price.

Spaces are still limited but if you’re interested then get in touch.

Having had numerous amateur attempts to try and put a good intro video together, we decided to get the professionals in.

I reckon they’ve done a great job in producing a very short video that gets our message across clearly – about what we do, why we’re different and why so many women around Northampton get amazing results.

Have a quick watch:

30 Second Breakfast For Women In Northampton That Are Busy

Posted on by Ricky in Articles, food, Video Comments Off on 30 Second Breakfast For Women In Northampton That Are Busy

Breakfast is the toughest meal to crack when ‘going clean’.

Eggs / meat and nuts / avocado are the ideal world perfect replacement to cereals and toast.

High Protein and healthy fats provide the kick start to your metabolism and energy that your body needs at the beginning of the day.

The only downside is that it can take a bit of time (probably around 10 minutes on average) to prepare and cook. I am reliably informed that finding an extra 10 minutes in the morning is not as easy as it sounds!

So with this in mind I’ve put this short video together showing you how you can get at least 27g of protein, your healthy fats and a ton of green veggies for breckie in just 30 seconds!!

Bootcamp in Northampton – Core and Cardio

Posted on by Ricky in Video Comments Off on Bootcamp in Northampton – Core and Cardio

Sometimes a quick video can demonstrate the sort of stuff that we do in our sessions better than any explanation over the phone or on the website.

So here is another short (22 seconds!) quick snippet of one of our core and cardio sessions. The room was split into 2 with one half doing floor work strengthening their core whilst the others were practising their controlled Kettlebell swings as their cardio. Beginners were able to complete this by using lighter weight – 2kg-4kg kettlebells while the more experienced ladies were using 12kg-16kg.

All good fun!

Personal Trainer Northampton – Leg Session Example

This is an example of one of our leg session workouts that we planned recently.

It’s pretty ‘no frills’ but does demonstrate how we design our workouts to cater for all levels of fitness.

We have only ever done this workout once as we change the workouts every day, to stop our members getting bored, but it certainly gives a good example.

This is for of our group training bootcamp sessions in Northampton.

At What Point Do You Feel More Confident?

Posted on by Ricky in Video Comments Off on At What Point Do You Feel More Confident?

Tricky question to answer. How much do you need to lose before you say that’s enough – I feel as confident and happy about myself as I can be?

Is it 7lbs, 2 stone, 5 stone or even more than that?

Where does your body fat % need to get to? 35%, 25%, 20%?

We at Fitter Body Bootcamp in Northampton actively promote healthy clean eating and high intensity exercise in order to improve body composition, have more energy and live a longer healthier life.

The mind though is a funny old thing that plays tricks on us and even when others see you as perfect (and you’ve reached those tough initial goals that you set yourself) there is something deep inside nagging away saying that you are still “far from it”!

These are the sort of things that local Body Confidence Expert Cassie Farren discusses and helps to answer. She has been there and done it herself. It’s not been an easy journey for her but she has now got rid of self doubt and is a much better person for it.

I have put together a 5 minute interview with Cassie whereby she explains in a little bit more detail about how she is helping tons of women around Northampton and beyond fill that missing piece of the jigsaw.
